 King County Local Voters Pamphlet
City of Shoreline
COUNCIL POS. NO. 06, 4 YR TERM /Exp.:07
Candidates:
Robert L.(Bob) Ransom – Nonpartisan |
Re-elect Bob -- a 32-year resident who raised 5
children with his wife in Shoreline. He has both a MPA in Public Administration
and an MS in Educational Psychology/Counseling. He previously served us as both
an elected School Board member and Parks Commissioner concurrently. He has
substantially increased services to Parks, Recreation, Arts Council, museum,
human services and senior center, and Police services while closing drug houses
and lowering crime. The City has NO DEBT, with millions in the bank. He has
listened to us and involved the community in the decision making process to
preserve our neighborhoods. He is concerned about building the infrastructure
necessary for sound community development, so we can continue to afford to
provide increased services. This includes being business friendly so we will
have a growing business community to help pay for those services. He presents a
professional approach that is both balanced and practical.

Brian -- a 20-year married resident with 2 children in Shoreline Schools. He
has a Masters in Public Administration, Bachelors in Finance; private, public,
and not-for-profit experience; and 20 years community service: present Chair,
Shoreline Planning Commission; member: Shorewood High School Site Council,

worked towards recommendations for the North City sub-area plan, tightening
cottage housing developments, establishing critical areas codes, single-family
design standards, and transfer station renovation.
Brian
will move us forward: getting our Aurora Corridor started while balancing
pedestrian-business-transit needs; improving pedestrian safety near high
foot-traffic areas; expanding our parks opportunities; balancing fiscal
conservatism with human services needs; preserving our quality of life. |

Janet Way – Nonpartisan |
B.S.
Art Education, Moore College of Art; President: Paramount Park Neighborhood
Group, Thornton Creek Legal Defense Fund; Served on: Shoreline Parks, Thornton
Creek Watershed, and Fircrest Master Plan Advisory Committees.
As
a parent, business owner, and neighborhood steward with a proven record of
accomplishment, I believe Shoreline should respect the opinions of ALL its
citizens, not just the powerful.
Shoreline
residents deserve strong leadership and a "voice for the environment." Our
City's land-use decisions directly affect neighborhoods and parks. I'm the
candidate with the experience to make a difference on these issues.
Tax
dollars must be spent wisely to create a balance of beautiful open space, safe
pedestrian neighborhoods, and vibrant places to learn, play, and prosper with
diverse small business districts. Shoreline's homeowners shouldn't get stuck
with tax bills for lavish development. Let's protect Fircrest School, its
vulnerable residents, and family wage jobs.
Make
your voice heard - vote, September 16th!
