Steve Brown – Nonpartisan

Steve Brown has 7th and 9th graders in Seattle Schools. Steve's vision is for EVERY child to have a quality education in SAFE, CARING schools.

Steve has helped guide major school improvements. Hamilton International Middle School has block schedules and multicultural curriculum. Local Elementary Schools have Montessori, aviation and international programs. Test scores are up; dropout rates down. Our principal and teaching corps is strong. Steve responded decisively to the district's financial crisis. When the Board learned the truth, Steve took the lead in hiring outside auditors, creating new accountability measures, and balancing the budget.

Steve has worked with children as a teacher, parent and PTA officer. "My goals for re-election are clear: Hire a new Superintendent; Hold that Superintendent accountable to our educational vision; and Complete reforms to ensure fiscal accuracy and accountability."

Lisa Stuebing – Nonpartisan

Photo of Lisa Stuebing – Nonpartisan

I believe that we can bring out the best in Seattle Public Schools through effective management of existing resources. We must manage our money responsibly, improve our financial stability and value our teachers, principals and staff.

The School District has had a history of deteriorating communication. The result has been poor financial management and decreasing morale that ultimately led to this year's budget disaster.

As a nationally recognized expert in improving government efficiency through improved communication, I will bring a timely and critical expertise to the school board. I have 15 years experience as a steward of public funds.

I come to the School District as a fresh independent voice and an experienced problem solver. It's time for a change on the Seattle School Board.
