 King County Local Voters Pamphlet
City of Burien
COUNCIL POS. NO. 02, 4 YR TERM /Exp.:07
Candidates:
Lucy Krakowiak – Nonpartisan |
"THE
BEST FOR BURIEN" I'm a 42 year old Burien business professional, residing
in Burien since 1988. Member and current Chair, Burien Economic Development
Advisory Board to City Council; Chief Organizer of Cleansweep; Bachelors
degree, Biology - A sample of my experience. Community service, knowledge and
passion provide my foundation to serve as council member, developing Burien
into the full-service community we can all be proud of.
I
will work to ensure fair decisions, continued fiscal responsibility, a thriving
business community, and preservation of neighborhoods. This includes protecting
natural resources. The third runway threatens our community. Environmental
responsibility and accountability are critical. Continued support of the
Airport Communities Coalition is imperative.
I have demonstrated leadership, community service and
a serious work ethic in serving Burien. I know our community and care deeply
about it. I appreciate your vote and look forward to working with you to make
Burien "The Best."

Philip C. Emerson – Nonpartisan |
 Born
and raised in Burien, graduated from Highline, received Bachelor of Arts and
Masters in Education Degrees from the University of Washington. I teach in
Kent. I have a background in the performing arts, produce the Miss Burien
Pageant and volunteered for years with our local theater group, the Hi-Liner's.
I
want to develop our neighborhoods as vibrant parts of the city while
maintaining their individuality by continuing the current policy of neighborhood
planning with enhanced representation to the council.
Burien
is the business engine of Highline therefore I value, support and wish to
expand "Discover Burien."
The
proposed 3rd runway at Sea-Tac would be an environmental disaster
and an economic burden for Burien's taxpayers. I support continued funding of
the ACC. The fight is almost over. We are winning.
My
commitment to you: I will listen, then make my decisions based upon the best
interests of all Burien residents. |
