    Our community can grow and still retain its small town atmosphere. Such a balancing act between development and preservation will require us to look at our town and to think about the reasons we live here.

    We have a sense of belonging here, a feeling of connection with neighbors, businesses and city government. We go places in town and daily greet two or three people by name. We share in their lives, and they touch ours.

    Many of you know me from the School/Community Playground Project or the 169 Traffic Light Project. We've met at city council meetings, PTA or my job at B.D. Elementary. Together we've helped local children to read or to improve writing skills with a school newspaper. We've served on committees to benefit our community.

    With your vote, I will bring to the Black Diamond City Council my vision, dedication and leadership experience.

Mario

SORCI

    Mario Sorci has been a Black Diamond City Council person for the last 10 years. During which time he has demonstrated that he is a skilled consensus builder on many critical issues facing the city.

    As a strong supporter of emergency services, Mario has worked on the Finance Committee to pass fiscally responsible city budgets that meet the needs of the police, fire and citizens in Black Diamond.

    Mario is a small business owner in Black Diamond, providing employment for 17 people and is committed to maintaining the rural character and lifestyle enjoyed by Black Diamond citizens.

    He is also Chairman of the Board of Enumclaw Community Hospital and a past president of the Maple Valley Rotary. Mario has been married to his wife Karen for 30 years and has two children, Christopher, 25 and Michelle, 21.
