PROPOSITION NO. 1 POLICE PROTECTION EXCESS LEVY - $102,000 Shall the City of Carnation, Washington, be authorized to levy an excess property tax in the year 2000 for collection in 2000 of $102,000, estimated at 0.95 mils per $1,000.00 of full assessed value, for the purpose of providing funds for police services, all as provided in Resolution No. 236? |
|
|
If approved by the voters, this proposition will provide additional funding for police protection costs approximately equal to the expenses necessary to support one existing police officer. The City has three full-time police officers and one part-time police chief. The current level of staffing provides nearly 24-hour direct coverage for the City. This levy is necessary to maintain the current level of staffing. The 2000 Police Protection Excess Levy will not increase the tax rate over last year's voter-approved levy for the same purpose. |
