CITY OF MERCER ISLAND COUNCIL POS. NO. 03
:

Sven

GOLDMANIS

I successfully led the citizens who stopped the oversized, overpriced community center proposal last year.  I am continuing my efforts for a better community by running for City Council.  Citizens are not being heard at City Hall.  Taxes are too high and getting higher and our Council doesn't care, evident from their failure to stay within Referendum 47 property tax limitations.  Neighborhoods don't count at City Hall, evident from the decision to allow a 133-foot monopole at the southend, overriding the recommendation of our own planning commission. The Council doesn't represent us, evident from their attempt to build the fire station at Mercerdale Park and their weak efforts to retain our single-occupant vehicle use of the I-90 HOV lanes.  The Island has a bright future if its leaders represent us and not their own narrow agendas.  A vote for Goldmanis will bring representative government back to Mercer Island.
