Don Jacobson has served on Valley's hospital
district board since 1993. As
commissioner, he actively supports the hospital district goals: maintaining quality patient care, controlling
health care costs and expanding medical technology. He has fought to increase access to quality care for the elderly
and those on limited incomes by supporting programs such as the family practice
residency clinic and the Valley Nurse Line, a free after hours consulting nurse
service. A true advocate for seniors,
he has encouraged the expansion of GoldenCare, the senior services program at
Valley, with the addition of Medicare insurance advisors on staff and the
exploration of a retirement/assisted living facility near Valley's hospital
campus.
Voted Renton's 1994 Citizen of the Year, Don
has served on many boards and been involved in civic activities throughout his
50 years in the community. This
includes Renton school and library boards, Renton Technical College board,
United Way, Jaycees and Rotary, Scouting and Western Washington plasterer's
union. He and his wife Pearl have two
children and four grandchildren. Both
Don and Pearl continue to be active in church and community activities.
