Stu

HIGHET

Although the Vashon School District is one of the finest school districts in Washington, we have multiple issues to face:  How to meet the needs of a wide range of students:  the highly talented, the unmotivated, those with special needs, and others whose focus is elsewhere?  How do we assure all our students a feeling of belonging, not of alienation?  How do we address these issues, maintain high academic achievement, and stay within budget limitations?  The solutions:  dialogue, analysis, strategizing, cooperation -- and hard work.

I'm a good listener and a good communicator; I believe I can help people view our schools' scene globally rather than focusing on a few narrow issues.  With 30 years' experience as teacher, counselor, and professional leader (now retired), I have the time, the energy, the skills, and the commitment to work actively with ALL the Vashon community to provide the education that our students deserve.
