:

Lesley K.

AUSTIN

Lesley, her husband and children have lived in Issaquah for twenty years.  Her many years of experience as a classroom volunteer, PTA elementary and middle school president, president and legislative chair of the district's PTSA Council, and Washington PTA Region 2 legislative chair, and her service on the 1993 and 1997 District Feasibility Committees and on every levy and bond campaign since 1990 (chairing each of the last four campaigns), provide her with an extensive knowledge of our public schools, the needs of our community, and the dual challenges of school funding and educational excellence.

Lesley is prepared to confront difficult issues created by rapid growth - school location and construction, boundary changes and grade reconfiguration.  She is committed to providing students at all educational levels throughout the district with the best possible education consistent with the district's obligation of fiscal responsibility.

LISTON

My family moved here in 1984 from Anchorage, Alaska and have remained in the growing district attendance area.  I'm young, with fresh new ideas to contribute and I know I would make you proud.  Being a student in the district for eight years, I have a unique perspective.  I believe in honesty . . . I'm a statesman not a politician.  I could tell you what you want to hear and then not do anything about it, but what good am I then?  Passing the buck and beating around the bush is a waste of your time.  Does the school board work for you, or King County or the Mariners?  My platform is simple:  I can count, I have common sense, and I work for the students.  If something comes across my desk and it doesn't benefit our future leaders then it is just a waste of my time.
