Janice
Linville, husband George, sons
Geoffrey, David, Robert, and daughter Shannon, have lived in Lake Washington
School District for eleven years.
Elected to the board in 1995, Janice serves as the vice-president of the
Lake Washington School Board as well as the Chairman of the Resolutions
Committee for the Washington State School Directors Association.
Janice is committed to improving the
education of every child. In her four
years on the board, summer reading programs have started for those who are
having difficulty. There is an emphasis
on basics in the classroom, and many more students are taking advanced
placement courses. Test scores have
risen steadily. Communications with
parents and our community have improved, with many more opportunities for input
by the public through our website, voicepoll, and community surveys. School Board meetings are broadcast live.
Through sound fiscal management, the Lake
Washington School District has achieved the highest bond rating of any school
district in the state.
Janice believes the safety of our schools
must always be a top priority, and will need continued emphasis in the next few
years.
Teacher training has produced significant
benefit to our students and should be continued with an emphasis on using
proven techniques and strategies.
"Our future lies in the hearts, minds
and abilities of our students. We will
not fail them or our community."
