As Vashon Island maps its future, water availability and its responsible conservation and distribution are critical and decisive elements in making those plans.  As decisions must be made concerning water on the Island, it requires someone in that position who has a combination of water management, civic involvement and community planning experience.

Jim English has the experience necessary to make the right decisions concerning water for Vashon Island's future.  A Vashon Island resident, District 19 customer, local business manager and retired military officer, Jim has served as a community planner, civic and charitable volunteer and water board advisory committee member within and outside Washington state.

District 19 is at the center of Vashon Island's future water interests.  Jim English is committed to balancing County regulations with residents' needs.  He is dedicated to community planning through open dialogue, constant availability and diligent representation of the water district at all levels.

BOGAARD

As a small business owner/farmer with my wife Amy, I know that high quality, affordable water is fundamental to our community's quality of life.

As a professional with an MS in Resource Policy, I know how important it is to make balanced decisions about water resources.

As Commissioner, I am prepared to serve you in a thoughtful, informed manner.  I will strive for:

...Sound Water/Fiscal Planning:  Let's ensure that programs are cost-effective and protect water quality for existing/new ratepayers as the District grows in a responsible manner.

...Community Involvement:  Let's seek meaningful avenues for involvement and actively pursue education programs relating to water management and use.

...Conservation:  Let's build on past efforts and encourage a cost-effective conservation program.

I am committed to our island community.  With your support, I look forward to working toward these goals to protect the high-quality, affordable water we value.
