NICKELS

Democrat

As a member of the Metro County Council I have two very important jobs to do.  I advocate for the people of my Council District and I work hard to make King County effective and efficient for all its citizens.

Improving Transportation:  From creating a mass transit system to initiating the Elliott Bay Water Taxi and everything in between, I have worked hard to find real answers to our transportation crisis.

Protecting Our Children's Health:  As Chair of the King County Board of Health I have fought the tobacco companies' efforts to hook our children on their product and have created innovative food safety programs to protect against E. coli and other food borne illness.

Restoring a Liveable Environment:  If our environment is no longer clean enough for native salmon populations, will it be clean enough for our children and grandchildren?  It is important that we begin the difficult task of cleaning up our human and natural environment.

I have worked hard to represent the communities of the Eighth Council District -- West Seattle,

White Center, Burien and Vashon Island and I ask for your vote for reelection to the Metro County Council.

    Thank you.

Dwight P.

BALLESTRASSE

Republican

I believe that government should be an efficient tool that respects all citizens and their hard-earned dollars.

    • I believe that low taxes benefit everyone!  I will fight for lower taxes to maximize your ability to support charities, schools, churches and retirement savings of your choice.

    • I support I-695.  LOWER taxes boost both the economy and tax revenue.  A win-win situation!

    • I believe that government should fund basic services first.  Police, Fire, Criminal justice, and EMT should take priority.  Emergency Medical Response should not be held hostage for higher taxes.

    • I believe you should have someone on County Council who understands the burdens government has imposed on citizens and small business.  I am not a career politician bent on advancing my tax-funded future.  I will serve you and keep the power with you.

    • I believe in a strong future for King County.  I am a life-long Washington resident and have lived, with my wife Kim, in our Unincorporated King County home for over five years.

    • If you believe as I do, vote for Dwight Ballestrasse.  Together we are a force for change.
