CITY OF DES MOINES COUNCIL POS. NO. 02
:

Rod

BLALOCK

Rod has been a resident of the Des Moines area for over 32 years, and a lifelong resident of South King County.  He lives here because he loves the beauty and small-town feeling and wants to preserve it.

Rod is concerned with the safety of all citizens.  As a member of the Des Moines Civil Service Commission and Drinking Driver Task Force, he has worked to make our community a safer place.  He knows some of the problems that our young citizens face and co-founded Des Moines Teen Night.  He believes in open government and listens to the ideas and opinions of others.

Rod's long history of providing community leadership includes his serving on the boards of the Des Moines Food Bank, Lions Club, King County Conservation Voters, and Citizens Against SeaTac Expansion (CASE).  His experience and leadership will make him a positive force on the City Council.

Don

WASSON

I'm married to a beautiful lady named Mary Jane.  We've lived here over 30 years.

I own a small business.  I've met a payroll every week since 1966.  I understand how to handle money, and how to work with people.  I need yours and your friends votes.  Please vote for Don Wasson.

I'm campaigning because I believe our Council needs someone with my broad experience in the real world.  I will continue to fight:  efforts to raise your taxes, to prevent the City from infringing on your property rights, to maintain our excellent police services, to prevent our city bureacracy from growing larger, to prevent our small-town atmosphere from shrinking further and to prevent any further over-regulation of our lives, I'll try to be this Council's conscience and continue to speak out when they try to infringe on your quality of life.

    Please Vote for Don Wasson

Jerry P.

BERGMAN

I've lived in Des Moines with my wife Jan and my son Danny for 17 years.  I've worked for Burlington Northern as a locomotive engineer for 26 years.  I operate a small business from my home.  Look it up at www.wallcaddy.com.  I've helped my neighborhood maintain public access to our beach at South 239th street.  I helped start the 7th Ave. South local improvement district to improve our neighborhood streets, install street lighting and place our power lines underground.  I am starting a petition drive to convince the City to install a four-way stop at Marine View Drive and South 240th street, a very dangerous intersection.  I helped my son Danny convince the City Council to build a skateboard park.  I have the energy, time, and inclination to help improve our City.  If you elect me,  I will improve all of our city...Please vote for Jerry Bergman.
