BOEHM

I believe in local control within our city.  I will listen to the citizens and help preserve Maple Valley's character, human scale and neighborhood quality, with trees and open spaces retained as part of all new commercial development.  Maple Valley must expand its tax base in existing commercial areas, not push stores into neighborhoods.  I oppose strip malls and commercial sprawl.

Any kind of development without adequate road improvements is unacceptable to me.  Developers need to do more in mitigation, and the city must plan for road widening and sidewalks wherever commercial growth is allowed so people can walk safely.  Road improvements must be in place before development occurs.

I have lived in Maple Valley for twenty years.  I am articulate and assertive and will fight to protect all that remains of our rural character.

McIALWAIN

I have served two years on the Council.  I ask for your vote to continue the complex work of establishing a new City.  I served as Chair of the Police Oversight Committee and Chair of the Economic Development Committee.  My goals for the next four years include securing parkland, creating a balance between economic development and wilderness preservation, maintaining financial stability, and continuing to provide excellent police and family oriented services.  I have 9 years of municipal experience and 18 years of private business ownership.  I graduated from Green River College, finished my business degree while working and raising a family and completed my graduate work in Education.  My record speaks for itself--I am honest, capable, motivated and forthright in representing citizen interests.  Dan and I live near Pipe Lake.  We have five grown children and four grandchildren.  Please provide me with the opportunity to continue representing you.
