:

R. August

KEMPF

As your Hospital Commissioner, I would represent you by:

WORKING TO REDUCE YOUR PROPERTY TAXES.  Our District's taxpayers should only have to pay to help our residents receive care when they can't afford to pay for it, and to help expand the facilities of the district programs to meet the needs of our community.

WORKING TO DEVELOP COMMUNITY GIVING PROGRAMS to support Hospice and other programs that need financial support.  Our Foundation needs to have successful annual giving and endowment programs to help our community's needs.

WORKING TO ASSURE ACCESS TO THE REGIONS BEST MEDICAL AND HEALTH CARE PROGRAMS.  By developing our districts professional resources our health care community can provide outstanding care in most medical areas.  If we cannot provide appropriate care, we will refer our residents to other care providers in the region.

WORKING WITH OUR DISTRICTS AND REGIONS RESOURCES TO PROMOTE MEDICAL AND BIOTECHNOLOGY RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT.  By furthering the development of Bioresearch, we can assure our residents the most current and innovative medical care.

As an involved community resident, a successful Eastside business owner, a University of Washington business graduate, and  family man; I ask for your vote for Hospital Commissioner.

Gene

HAWKRIDGE

The Evergreen Hospital Medical Center -- It's a great hospital -- it's even a great educational institution -- it's a great asset to our community.  The hospital staff is caring but also experienced, knowledgeable, and proficient.  So why, I wonder, does it need a tax subsidy to be competitive with the private, tax-paying hospitals in our region?  Shouldn't it, as a valuable, tax-exempt asset to our community, be able to stand on its own, without the subsidy?  I believe it can, and I will work towards that goal as a commissioner for Hospital District No. 2.

I am Gene Hawkridge, a licensed, professional engineer, a proud Dad with two teenagers, and a man who happens to believe that if something is really valuable, you shouldn't have to force people to pay for it.

Some candidates will try to impress you with a long string of credentials that they think qualifies them to represent you on the Hospital District's board of commissioners.  Perhaps it does.  Then again, all the credentials in the world don't guarantee that it's your interests that they will represent.  I wonder whom they were representing when they gave the Chief Executive Officer a huge increase in pay this past spring?
