SLATTERY

I am committed to preserving and enhancing public education for all.

Education reform should build on the basics and improve student performance and the system's accountability.  The budget process should be fair and understandable for all citizens and insure responsible use of tax dollars.  I will continue to support proven teaching methods and curriculum.

We need to build bridges with parents, businesses, local community and civic organizations in support of all our Highline schools.

I am committed to finding the best possible solution to reducing airport noise in our homes and classrooms.

There is much work still to be done.  Re-elect me to the Highline School Board so we can continue to improve public education for all our children.

So called "experts" are controlling our district.  We need thinking, reasoning citizens on our school board who will represent the whole community -- not just the education industry.  We need board members who will 'Get our schools back to teaching.'

I have been actively solving community problems by serving in elected and appointed positions such as:  • North Highline Unincorporated Area Council, Chaired Governance, Parks/Open Spaces, and Sewer District/Utilities Committees • Southwest Suburban Sewer District's Citizens Advisory Committee • Chaired Jaycee's Governmental Affairs Committee • Consultant for Edmonds Community College • Co-Chaired Educational Committee on Mayor's Kids' Place Task Force.

It's time for Highline to 'Start teaching again.'   We have smart kids.  They can learn if we focus on quality teachers, and proven techniques.  It's not how much money you spend, but how you spend the money you have.  I'm ready for the task.
