    As a resident of Renton for 20 years, and having had children in Renton schools for the past eight years, I have a strong interest in the quality of our schools because education will determine that child's quality of life in the future.

    For nine of the ten years that I've been home with our children, I have been involved working with and for children as a volunteer. My experience has included work with students in elementary school classes, organization of programs for students, service on various school and district committees, and PTA leadership at our school and at the school district level.

    The most rewarding part of my volunteer experience are the results I've seen when the school staff and parents work in partnership for students. All Renton schools should work toward such partnerships through establishing channels of communication, and the building of good working relationships with parent organizations.

    I maintain a professional manner with the people I work with and will represent my employer, THE VOTERS, in a positive manner. As a parent who has reared one child through the Renton schools and, with another one in grade school, I know how important communication and respect are to both parents and students.

    Throughout my tenure, I have worked to improve communication and was a strong advocate for more collaborative processes. I have served on the Budget Committee, am currently school board vice-president; but most importantly, I bring a parent's perspective to the board.

    The next four years will involve many important issues including the continuation of modernizing and upgrading our schools, reviewing the district's policies, and addressing school safety. It will be very exciting to be a part of this and I look forward to serving another four years. Thank you.
