(206) 296-1540

For the special election being held in the City of Shoreline and in the proposed city of Briarwood on Tuesday March 10, there will be no polling places open. All registered voters in these areas have been mailed their ballots and will have to return the ballots by mail, postmarked no later than March 10, or deposit them at the King County Elections Office or one of the designated ballot drop-off locations.

Shoreline voters will be voting on whether or not to change its form of government, becoming a charter code city and electing a fifteen member charter commission to frame the city charter if the measure passes. Presently, the city is a non-charter city as all other King County cities are except Seattle.

Voters in the Briarwood area of King County will be voting on whether or not to incorporate as a non-charter code city under a council-manager plan of government, much like the one now established in nearby Maple Valley.

Voter information pamphlets have been prepared and are included with the mail ballot voting guides sent along with the ballots. Voters who live in these areas and believe that they are eligible to vote in these election, but who have not yet received a ballot, should notify the Records and Elections Division, (206) 296-1608 immediately. Persons who have moved into or within either of the areas and have not yet notified the Elections office of their change in residence should do so as soon as possible.

Voters who do not wish to mail their voted ballots may drop them off at an official drop point on election day between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. For Shoreline voters, the drop point is located in the Shoreline Center, 18560 1st Avenue NE., Building E, located in the southwest corner of the building in the Alumni Room. For Briarwood voters, the drop point will be located in the Maplewood School at 14490 168th Ave., SE. Voters also can drop their ballot off in the Elections office during regular office hours on any work day up until March 10. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except on election day when the office will be open the same hours as the drop-off points.
