Don Gerend, former rocket scientist and college professor, has lived in Sammamish twenty years with his wife Susan and children, Jennifer and Jason. With a Ph.D. in astronomy, Don brings analytical skills and creative insight to the search for solutions to the numerous challenges facing our new city. Twenty years of experience as an investment advisor, entrepreneur and asset manager provide Don with the negotiating and consensus building skills essential for our new City Council.
"My goals include providing damage control on growth, transportation alternatives, drug free community, safe streets and neighborhoods, balanced budget, control taxes, parks and playfields, diverse activities for youths, and creative school/community ties."
Don believes that an informed community, guided by a responsive council and skilled staff, will produce a new city with a soul. "It doesn't take a rocket scientist to run a city, but it can't hurt to have one along for the launch."
