King County Local Voters Pamphlet
September 15, 1998 Primary Election Annexation of Area A-3 to the City of Shoreline- Proposition No. 1
BALLOT TITLE
EXPLANATORY STATEMENT:
STATEMENT FOR
Some years ago the City of Seattle set aside $25,000 to study the feasibility of annexing the Shoreline District. This Area extended from the Shoreline of Puget Sound to the Shoreline of Lake Washington; and from city limit to county line. This brought great panic. Our school district would be absorbed into the behemoth south of us.
And Vision Shoreline came into being.
And the Growth Management Act (GMA) came into being.
September, 1994, we went to the polls to vote. We had no vote. Another, already existing, incorporated town had chosen to designate a large part of Shoreline as its Proposed Annexation Area.
Since 1994, we have fought to vote our choice. Several polls based on house to house canvassing have all told the same story. We still want to annex to Shoreline.
We do not want to be a buffer to separate Lake Forest Park from the grosser elements of the district. Nor do we wish to give up our tax and revenue base for the support of LFP. Area "A" has been trimmed down to a smaller Area "A-3."
Now it is time to cut to the chase and vote. Stop the nonsense and VOTE YES TO SHORELINE.
Please, do vote. Vote yes.
