How to Earn Points
This year, participants must choose a focus area, either: Participants can earn points for completing activities within their specific focus areaand for involvement in Stress Less / General Health activities, Worksite Health Promotion activities and Special Activities/Events. There's something for everyone, so focus on your health and go for it!
Team Points
The Team points total is an average for your team. It is calculated by dividing the total of number of individual points per team by the number of team members. This allows teams of differing sizes to compete fairly.Individual Points
There are a total of 553 possible points per person for the entire Live Well Challenge. You can earn points in several different categories. Here are some hints on how to earn Eat Smart, Move More, and Quit Tobacco points. Also see the Frequently Asked Questions section for more details.Focus Area Points*All points are earned on the honor system and are self reported.
You can earn up to 180 points for activities within your focus area (Eat Smart, Move More, or Quit Tobacco). These categories encourage healthy behaviors such as meeting the daily recommendations for nutrition or physical activity.
Stress Less/General Health Points
You can earn up to 168 points for Stress Less and General Healthy activities. These categories encourage you to engage in (or continue) health related behaviors such as stress management, getting enough sleep, and drinking water.
Worksite Health Promotion Points
There are 30 possible points for Worksite Health Promotion activities which support your efforts and foster a healthy workplace environment. Each activity earns 5 points. Here are some hints on how to earn Workplace Health Promotion points.
Based on your total Focus Area, Stress Less/General Health, and Worksite Health Promotion points you can earn additional Goal Points. (More information below.)
Special Activities/Events Points
75 points in this category. These points are reported at the end of the Live Well Challenge (Week 6). This category provides participants with an extra opportunity to challenge themselves with activities such as taking a cooking class, completing a health screening, or participating in an organized physical activity event. In addition, submitting a personal Health Hero story can earn you points. Here are more hints on how to earn Special Activities/Events points.
Goal Points
You can earn an additional 100 points for reaching the goal that you set at the beginning of the Challenge. At the end of week 3, if you reach your goal you will earn 50 points. You have a second chance to reach your goal in weeks 4-6. At the end of week 6 if you reach your goal, you will earn an additional 50 points. Note: You must set a minimum goal of 96 points.
