Leaving Employment

Employee Exit Guide and Class

When you are leaving employment with the county, you will want to review the Employee Exit Guide, which explains:

  • COBRA and retiree benefit options
  • What you need to know about the county's Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association
  • The tasks you need to complete when leaving county employment

  • How your final paycheck and W-2 form are processed

  • What to do with your state retirement and deferred compensation funds.

The guide also includes a Termination Notice for informing Payroll and Benefits and Retirement Operations that you're leaving. The notice is also provided separately under Links to Help.

For additional information, attend an Exit Class 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m. the last Tuesday of every month in Conference Room 121 on the first floor of The Chinook Building, 401 Fifth Ave. (Fifth Avenue and Jefferson Street), Seattle. To enroll, e-mail kc.orientations@kingcounty.gov.

Current for 2008.
