First time biker? Never fear – these local resources are here to help you get pedaling.

  • Bike Buddy program – find someone to ride with you. This free program matches you to a volunteer Bike Buddy who will help you prepare for your first commute and ride with you. or call the Bicycle Alliance at 206-224-9252

Community resources for bike maintenance:

          • REI offers classes for bike care and maintenance. Some are free and some have a fee. For a class near you, go to www.rei.com and search for a store by zip code.

          • Cascade Bike Club offers several bike maintenance and commuting classes. For info, go to www.cascade.org and click “Education”. Classes in May included fixing brakes, flat tires, chains and derailleurs, commute tips and more. Follow the link for a current class schedule.

  • Bike to Work Day information — including the location and times of the 38 commuter stations
  • BikeStation SeattleBikestation Seattle — at 311 3rd Avenue South. Bikestation Seattle, sponsored in part by King CountyMetro, offers services that include bike sharing, rentals, sales and repairs. Secure indoor bicycle parking is available to members 24/7 as well as free attended bicycle parking during operating hours.
