Tips for working in partnership with labor: Committees with represented employees

The following are general guidelines for creating committees with represented employees.
  1. Remember to involve represented employees’ union representatives in setting up committees. Be sure to:

    • Contact the employees’ union representative prior to creating a committee
    • Invite the union representative to be a member of the committee
    • Allow the union to select the employee representatives to serve on the committee
  1. Limit your committee’s discussion to the topics you discussed with the union representative
  1. Do not make offers to confer a benefit

  2. Contact Labor Relations if you have questions
