Health Reform Initiative

The goal for the King County Health Reform Initiative is to implement solutions that will meet the goals to reduce health care costs and promote the strategies of continued or improved good health. To that end, the overall objectives of the project are:

• Increase the likelihood that King County employees will receive high quality, cost effective, patient centered health care services.

• Improve the health of King County employees and their families.

• Mitigate the need to shift health care costs to King County employees.

• Increase the involvement of King County employees in managing their own health.

• Increase King County employees’ willingness and ability to make cost effective, evidence based decisions with their providers.

• Encourage the use of shared health data and technology (among employers, health plans, providers and employees) to improve health outcomes and decrease medical errors.

• Work with unions and other employers to establish a collaborative process that will increase the likelihood of success.

• Make lasting change.
