The Fairwood potential annexation area (PAA) has been effectively “split” into two large community areas: Fairwood and the Benson Hill Communities.  This split occurred as the result of an attempt by Fairwood residents to create a new city.  The Fairwood potential incorporation is on the east side of the Fairwood PAA extending to the Urban Growth Boundary.  The Benson Hill Communities are located between the City of Renton and Fairwood, and include Cascade, Cascade Vista, Renton Park, Spring Brook and Spring Glen.  Use the map and search function below to determine whether an address falls within this PAA and/or within the proposed incorporation area. The map controls allow you to zoom-in to see street names and other neighborhood features. The search function will place a star on the map if the address searched is within a PAA.

Status updates

Benson Hill Communities: On Nov. 6, 2007, citizens living within the boundaries of the proposed Benson Hill Communities annexation area voted to join the City of Renton. The annexation of the Benson Hill Communities took effect Mar. 1, 2008.

.

Fairwood Incorporation Area: Residents within the boundaries of the proposed new city of Fairwood had the opportunity to vote to incorporate during the Sept. 19, 2006 election. By a relatively narrow margin, the proposed incorporation measure was defeated. The proponents have re-submitted a Notice of Proposed Incorporation to the Washington State Boundary Review Board for King County (BRB). The BRB will convene a public meeting in May to review this proposal. Once this process is completed, if the proponents seek to have the matter placed on the ballot, the county must do so as a matter of law. The residents of Fairwood also have the option of annexing to the City of Renton.
