Marketing and positioning King County and the Greater Seattle area as a premier gateway for international trade and tourism to strengthen and diversify the economic base.

The Trade Development Alliance of Greater Seattle (TDA) is a collaboration of partners, including King County, to promote the trade interests of the Puget Sound region in domestic and international markets. A 24-member board of directors governs the Alliance . The Trade Alliance was born out of recognition that new local partnerships are necessary to retain our region's future competitiveness in a rapidly changing global economy.
Trade promotion is accomplished by selecting and visiting foreign markets to cultivate public/private relationships that offer strategic opportunities for expanded trade and foreign investment. Consistent with this approach, the County advocated for the Alliance to include 1-2 small and mid-sized businesses on these trade mission visits.
Total Washington exports for 2003 equaled $34.2 billion. Our state is home to industry leaders in aerospace products; software; financial services and legal services; and agriculture. These companies derive a significant share of their revenues through foreign exports. One out of three jobs in our state depends on foreign sales. Asian markets comprise 43 percent of the state's exports.
