Message from George Northcroft,
Director

Hello and thank you for visiting the office of Business Relations and Economic Development (BRED) website.

BRED's core services of Business Development, Workforce Development, and Historic Preservation are designed to strengthen the local economy, encourage the retention and expansion of homegrown firms, provide relevant workforce training, and preserve our region's important historic areas. At BRED, we actively work to create economic opportunities for King County residents and ensure that maximum benefit accrues to local businesses and workers.

To reflect the diversity of the county's population, BRED programs are designed to foster collaborative partnerships with labor, business, and the local community. By working together and utilizing the skills and assets of both King County government and the private sector, our programs ultimately benefit and integrate communities and businesses.

There are numerous examples of beneficial and exciting programs at BRED. The White Center Business District Revitalization project provides technical assistance to business owners and entrepreneurs and assists in the improved appearance of White Center buildings and streets. As a result, economic development and strong community bonds are promoted throughout the White Center area.

Similarly, the Southwest King County Economic Development Initiative is a cooperative effort to enhance investment and employment opportunities in the cities of southwest King County . This Initiative is currently implementing two projects: the Small Business Development Center at Highline Community College and the Export Promotion Program .

Likewise, the Bellevue Entrepreneur Center (BEC) is a partnership between King County and local governments, higher education and private enterprise that provides resources to help small businesses succeed.

I invite you to explore the BRED website and learn more about the many BRED programs aimed at promoting a globally competitive economy for our region. You will also find a variety of useful resources that can enable you to find greater opportunities within King County .

Thank you for your interest in the Office of Business Relations and Economic Development.
