To be the public high school of choice for students in King County who wish to explore their passion for aviation and aerospace in a learning environment that prepares them for higher education, citizenship and work.
Aviation High School , Washington State's first aviation-themed public high school is intentionally designed as a small personalized learning environment. It provides a rigorous and relevant curriculum that prepares students for successful entry into careers in the aviation and aerospace industry. The school focuses on significantly higher standards for academic achievement.
In September 2003, Executive Ron Sims was briefed on the school and recruited to serve on its founding board.
Aviation High School opened in the fall of 2004 with 100 freshmen (9th graders) students. Annually for each of the next three years the school will add approximately 100 students to achieve a total population of 400 students by the 2007-08 academic years.
Presently located at South Seattle Community College 's Duwamish Training Center the school will relocate to a new or remodeled site close to King County International Airport and more than 200 aviation-related businesses by the 2006-07 school years.
