Potential listing impacts

Bridge and road construction projects may be delayedWe won't know for certain how these ESA listings will impact us until the federal government publishes the Tri-County salmon recovery plan in its protective rule sometime before January 8, 2001. However, we do know that we will see increased enforcement of existing regulations for things like erosion control at construction sites and the protection of sensitive areas like wetlands. King County has hired additional staff to provide technical assistance and increase on site enforcement of these regulations. We will also see more comprehensive stormwater management and roads maintenance guidelines along with added protections for river, stream, lake and marine shorelines. Pesticide/herbicide use may also be more stringently regulated. (12 of 15)
