Endangered Species Act (ESA) protection

Chinook salmon in Sammamish River near Marymoor Park The federal government (National Marine Fisheries Service) listed the wild, native Puget Sound chinook salmon as threatened under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) on March 24, 1999. The bull trout, a close relative of the salmon, was also listed as threatened on November 1, 1999. These listings protect both the fish and their habitat. (3 of 15)
