Hydropower and other dams

Dams provide many benefits, but also harm salmon runs In King County dams are used for water withdrawal and flood control and, to a lesser degree, for the production of hydropower. Dams can prevent fish from accessing spawning grounds and destroy habitat. Their operation can alter river flows in ways that affect salmon spawning, rearing and migration. (9 of 15)
