Sims unveils Environmental Information Exhibit in Metro Tunnel

King County Executive Ron Sims unveiled a new Environmental Information Display at the Metro Tunnel Westlake Station today. The wall-mounted display is on the mezzanine level and tells the story of the county's Department of Natural Resources.

"The display is designed to capture the attention of the thousands of Metro riders that travel through the tunnel each year and the diversity they represent," said Sims. "It provides them with information about environmental topics from A to Z," he said.

The public is encouraged to stop by the display and review the brochures available to them, such as, "Natural Lawn Care," "Noxious Weeds," "Hints for Healthy Streams," and "Cedar Hills Regional Landfill." Other topics include recycling household, commercial, and hazardous waste and watershed and wastewater information. Metro customers can view the display's changing environmental themes as they wait in line to buy bus passes.

The display is sponsored by the King County Department of Natural Resources' Commission for Marketing Recyclable Materials, Wastewater Treatment Division, Water and Land Resources Division, and Solid Waste Division. Please contact Deborah Brockway, King County Commission for Marketing Recyclable Materials, at 206-296-4439 with questions or comments.
