Recovery continues: Most County services open on Monday, March 5

As individuals, businesses, and government continue to recover from the effects of last Wednesday’s earthquake, the Office of Emergency Management reports that most County services will be available on normal schedule beginning Monday, March 5.

King County reports the following service updates as of 3 p.m. on March 4:

Metro Transit
All routes have returned to normal, except for nine bus routes that remain impacted by earthquake-related damage. These routes include:

  • Reroutes due to Pioneer Square closure on First Avenue South and/or South Jackson Street: 15, 18, 570
  • Reroutes due to Magnolia Bridge Closure: 19, 24, 33
  • Others: 209, 214, 929 due to State Route 202 slide east of Fall City.

King County Metro continues to encourage commuters to use its Regional Ridematch System to find a carpool or vanpool to join. Online applicants do their own matching and receive the names and contact information of other commuters or vanpools with a similar commute in minutes. Commuters can do their own ridematching online at www.rideshareonline.com/ by calling 1-800-427-8249 or (206) 625-4500.

Roads
All King County roads are open, except for:

  • Tolt Hill Bridge between SR-203 and West Snoqualmie River Road NE.
  • East Lake Sammamish Parkway SE. between SE. 16th St. and SE 24th St.
  • Jones Road between 154th Place SE. and 196th Ave. SE.
  • Southeast Green Valley Road between SR-169 and 218th Ave. SE.
  • Veazie-Cumberland Road between SE. 416th St. and SE. 392nd St.
  • Maplewild Ave. SW. between 29th Place SW. and 33rd Avenue SW.

Services at Yesler Building and King County Administration Building
Both the Yesler and Administration Buildings will be open to the public, and will resume regularly scheduled business hours beginning Monday, March 5.

Services at King County Courthouse
The King County Courthouse will be open to the public, and will resume regularly scheduled business hours beginning Monday, March 5.

Superior and District Courts
Due to operational logistics involving court operations, Superior and District Courts will be making separate announcements regarding resumption of their normal operations. The following are hotline numbers for Court staff:

  • Downtown Courthouse: (206) 205-6767
  • Juvenile Court: (206) 205-6747
  • Regional Justice Center: (206) 205-6746

King County Airport
The terminal at the King County Airport is open, and limited take-offs and landings are being permitted. The current take off limit is 110,000 pounds for single axle aircraft, and 220,000 pounds for tandem axle aircraft. The current maximum for landing aircraft is 35,000 pounds. All pilots are advised to check NOTAMs (Notice to Airmen) regularly for any updated information.
