King County releases latest absentee ballot results

King County today released the latest election results, which were made immediately available following this afternoon’s Canvassing Board meeting by printout and online. This is the last release before the Official Summary of Election Results on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m.

Today’s report adds 8,092 tabulated ballots to the 538,729 tabulated since Election Day for a total of 546,821 ballots tabulated.

Today’s count, which will have few, if any, changes by tomorrow’s official and final results, will result in a mandatory machine recount of the 47th District, Position #2 Legislative race. Jack Cairnes (R) is leading Pat Sullivan (D) by 95 votes, 16,033 to 15,938. King County Elections has until Monday, Nov. 25, to begin conducting the recount. The actual recount date will be established by the Canvassing Board when they meet on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

Overall turnout for this general election was 53% compared with 43% in the 2001 general election.
