Sims seeks nominations for Earth Heroes at School;
Program will honor environmental stewards in schools and classrooms
King County Executive Ron Sims is asking King County residents to help
identify those in our local schools who are doing exceptional work on behalf of the environment.
They may be teachers, students, staff, specific programs or entire schools.
“King County has numerous shining examples of creative and effective
Earth Heroes in our schools,” said Executive Sims. “These are the people and programs who
are working to maintain the environmental legacy in our county and we would like to honor them.”
In its fourth year, King County Earth Heroes at School honorees are
nominated by colleagues and classmates for their on-going commitment to preserving our
natural environment through educational efforts. Past recipients have included outstanding teachers,
students, staff, programs and schools.
Earth Heroes at School are the exceptional people and outstanding programs
in our midst that work tirelessly to protect our land, air and water resources. They are true
models of environmental stewardship demonstrating to others in schools, classrooms and
throughout communities the kind of impact we can all make in preserving our natural environment.
Nomination forms are available for download below and on King County 's Earth Legacy Web site
or by calling Linda Howard, at 206-296-4432. Nominations will be accepted until March 5, 2004.
Award winners will be acknowledged at an Earth Heroes at School Award Ceremony in May
2004.
The Earth Heroes at School program is part of a countywide Earth Legacy
Initiative, which consists of a number of programs that protect and enhance King County's
environment.
