Quick facts about King County's 2004 election

899,199 ballots were counted in the 2004 General Election.
83 percent voter turnout.
King County registered 138,729 new voters in 2004, a 40 percent increase for the same 10-month period leading up to the 2000 election.
A record 646,468 absentee ballots were issued in the General Election.
A record 233,254 absentee ballots were processed and tabulated on Election Day.
More than 31,000 provisional ballots were issued; more than 28,000 provisional ballots were validated and included in the final returns.
Out of more than 15,000 military, overseas and out-of-state ballots issued, only 16 were received too late to be counted.
Military and overseas citizens' ballots were mailed on time by Oct. 8, 2004.
