"As we mark the passing of the great civil rights activist Rosa Parks, we can marvel at the power of simple actions bringing about great things. The simple act of refusing to move to the back of the bus ignited a spark for our nation and moved America a major step toward realizing our ideals. It was an act of tremendous bravery in the face of entrenched discrimination. Rosa Parks embodied what all of us believe as Americans; all people, no matter what their race or ethnicity, want and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. We are a better nation thanks to her courageous stand. She will be sorely missed."
