King County mourns death of Deputy Cox, killed in the line of duty
King County Sheriff's Deputy Steve Cox, an extraordinary individual who dedicated his career to helping the community where he was raised, is being mourned by citizens, government leaders and the region's law enforcement community. Officer Cox was killed early Dec. 2 in White Center.
"This is a terrible loss for the Sheriff's Office and an especially painful loss for White Center and North Highline," said King County Sheriff Sue Rahr. "Steve symbolized the concept community policing and giving back to the community where you work. He cannot be replaced."
"Officer Cox epitomized the highest professional standards in law enforcement and came to his job from a heartfelt belief that he could make his community safer," said King County Executive Ron Sims. "The grief seen from the residents and business owners of White Center are testament to the success of Officer Cox."
