The King County Treasury performs many of the duties of a county treasurer for the Manager of Finance. The Treasury Manager is the custodian of all funds for the County and its governmental subdivisions.

Under the "home rule" charter, the Treasury is responsible for the following functions of the treasurer which are outlined in State law:

• Billing and collection of real and personal property taxes, gambling taxes, and local improvement district assessments.

• Receipt and investment of all County and political subjurisdiction funds; issuance and payment of the County's debt instruments; and formulating and implementing related financial policies.

• In 2002 our annual investment portfolio will exceed $3,300,000,000 and we will bill, collect, and distribute over $2,300,000,000 in property taxes.
