E-911 Address Location Project

Data Development

The E-911 GPS Address Project is creating an updated site address layer for every addressable building point in King County, as well as overlapping 911 service areas in Pierce and Snohomish counties. Updates to the TNET street layer will also be processed when field technicians are out collecting site data in areas where new roads have been built or for roads that were not incorporated during the initial TNET data development phase.

Below is a list of GIS layers collected during the E-911 GPS project. Each layer has attributes or separate elements of textual information that could be stripped out of the data for privacy issues if shared with other King County GIS users.

Elements of the Road Layer

  • Street name
  • Alias: road name, if it exists, for example, "Aurora Ave N," "International Blvd," and "Hwy 99"
  • Route number
  • Road class: for example, Hwy, local street, dirt road
  • Surface: paved, dirt

Field Collection Status

Field collection is complete and post-processing is now in progress.
