Overview

This class provides technical information for registering, posting, verifying, and troubleshooting data updates to the King County GIS Spatial Data Warehouse (SDW). A review of the organization of the SDW will be included.

Audience

Posting Data to the King County GIS Data Warehouse has been designed for enterprise and agency GIS data stewards, but the information covered may be useful for anyone using or maintaining King County GIS data.

Goals

• To introduce the basics of working with data stored in ArcSDE databases.
• To insure that all King County GIS data stewards have thorough knowledge of how to provide updates to the SDW using StewardTool.

• Overview of the KCGIS Spatial Data Warehouse.
• Accessing data in King County GIS Center SDE databases.
• Communication of SDW revisions and updates via the Data Digest.
• Data design.
• Creating Geodatabase data.

Prerequisties and Recommendations

• Working knowledge of ArcGIS 8.x or 9.x is recommended.
• Familiarity with the King County GIS library structure is recommended.
• Taking KCGIS Metadata: Creation, Posting, Maintenance, and Best Practices in tandem with this course is recommended.
