Overview

This half-hour class will provide a brief but concise overview of the fundamental components and business uses of a GIS (geographic information system). Students will learn how a GIS combines geographic theory, information technology, and system integration practices to transform agencies and businesses from 'hunter-gatherers' of data to 'farmers' of information.

Audience

What is GIS? is for managers, administrators, professionals, and others who would like to learn how GIS can benefit their agency, business, or personal career development.
