Using the Parcel Viewer Toolbar

To the left is an actual-size illustration of the Parcel Viewer toolbar, which is located immediately to the right of the main map display in the Parcel Viewer interface. The toolbar contains icons and text labels for the various tools you can use to interact with and control the map display, and perform addtional Parcel Viewer functions.

To learn about the various choices on the toolbar, click any of the icons or names in the image at left. Each represents a link to an explanation of that tool or function on the page below. Or just scroll down the page to read about all of the Parcel Viewer toolbar functions.

When you see this symbol, "see illustration" buttom image, in one of the help items below you can click on it to see an illustration that is specific to that item (then click your browser's "Back" button to return to this page).


Search Menu button

Search Menu

  Click this button to re-load the search options into the search display area.go to top of page

Show Legend button

Show Legend

 

Parcels in the Parcel Viewer map display are depicted against a zoning base map. Click this button to see the map legend, including zoning codes.go to top of page see the map legend


Overview Map button

Overview Map see the overview map

 

The overview map is a thumbnail image of King County on which is drawn a red rectangle that indicates the area that is currently shown in the main map display. The overview map updates automatically whenever you pan or zoom on the main map.

By default the overview map is not displayed. Click the overview map button to reveal it.go to top of page


Zoom In button

Zoom In

 

Click the zoom-in button to activate the zoom-in tool. You can then click anywhere on the map to increase its scale. The map display automatically redraws at the larger scale and is centered on the point over which you clicked.

Alternatively, click and drag a rectangle to zoom to a specific extent as defined by the rectangle.return to top of page


Zoom-out button

Zoom Out

 

Click the zoom-out button to activate the zoom-out tool. You can then click on the map to decrease its scale. The map display automatically redraws at the smaller scale and is centered on the point over which you clicked.return to top of page


Full Map button

Full Map

Click the full-map button to draw the entire county in the main map display.return to top of page

Back To Last Extent button

Back

Click the back button to revert to the previously viewed map extent.

You can go back only one step.return to top of page


Pan button

Pan

Click the pan button to activate the pan tool. You can then click and drag your mouse cursor (pan tool cursor) on the map to pan the map image, i.e., drag the map image up-down and left-right to change the portion that appears in the map display.return to top of page


Identify button

Identify

Click the identify button to activate the identify tool (identify tool cursor) which you can use to select and identify an individual parcel in the map display. When you select a parcel, the map display will redraw to show the parcel number, and the boundary of the selected parcel will be highlighted. Also, parcel information will be displayed in the results area below the search menu.return to top of page see an example result of using the identify tool (91k GIF)


Clear button Clear
 

Click this button to clear (de-select) a selected parcel. The map display will automatically redraw to reflect the change.return to top of page
