This map brochure helps residents and visitors explore and navigate in and around Seattle's University District and nearby neighborhoods, including north Capitol Hill, while leaving their cars at home. The maps feature public transportation as well as bicycling and pedestrian amenities. Numerous neighborhood features and attractions are also depicted, such as parks and playgrounds, markets, theaters, libraries, and much more.

The map brochure was developed and published by a partnership of King County Metro Transit and the University of Washington Transportation Office. King County GIS Center Client Services consulted on design and created the finished map artwork with Metro staff.

This is a general-purpose wall map, designed for public use, of the political and physical geography of King County. Its features include cities, highways, parks, water bodies, the urban growth boundary, the King County street numbering grid, public land survey system divisions (township/range lines), and 200-foot elevation contours that have been derived from a U.S. Geological Survey digital elevation model (DEM).

This general-purpose wall map was designed to showcase the landforms of King County as represented by a digital elevation model and a corresponding hillshading image that were developed by the GIS staff of the King County Department of Development and Environmental Services (DDES) from the USGS National Elevation Dataset (external link).

Map features include incorporated cities, federal and state highways, hydrography, and mountain peaks. The map scale is 1:100,000 at a sheet size of 48"x36". The map was created by the King County GIS Center.

This series of simple choroplethic maps (in which numerical classes are depicted by graduated color tints) shows the number of inquiries received by the King County Office of Citizen Complaints- Ombudsman tabulated by zip code for the years 1999, 2000, and 2001. King County Council districts, represented by the numerals 1-13 on the maps, are superimposed over the data.

The maps were produced by the King County GIS Center Client Services Group for inclusion in Ombudsman annual reports for the respective years (hence the maps do not have internal titles).

Location is a foundation of the real estate market. A Geographic Information System can be used to discern and graphically display patterns that are based on location. Such information is useful when reviewing regional markets and in the analysis of specific micro-neighborhoods and industries.

This presentation map depicts real estate sales between 2000 and 2003 for east Seattle. The aerial photo background provides a locational reference for the viewer, against which patterns can be seen when sales are stratified by price. An additional distinction was made between residential and commercial properties.

The map was produced by GIS staff in the King County Department of Assessments. Visitors to GIS Day 2003 in King County selected this map for the People's Choice Award.
