Public Health Human Resources
Our organization and services

Public Health – Seattle & King County serves a population of about 1.8 million residents. In contrast to the medical care system, which helps one individual at a time, Public Health helps entire communities. This approach reaches large groups of people by preventing health problems before they manifest. We do, however, play a key role as a Safety Net provider, assuring health services to vulnerable and high risk populations.  Our mission is to achieve and sustain healthy people and healthy communities throughout King County by providing public health services which promote health and prevent disease.

We employ nearly 2,000 people throughout King County to support our varied lines of business.  We employ people in a wide range of occupations including nursing, epidemiology, health education, health & environment inspection, dentistry, pharmacy, information technology, clinical operations, social work, paramedic and medical examiner services and administrative support. If you would like to join a dedicated group of professionals, review our employment opportunities

Public Health – Seattle & King County is organized into several divisions and areas. Our major program areas include:

Office of the Director:

Community Health Services Division:

Emergency Medical Services Division:

Environmental Health Services Division:
