New Crystal Meth Resource

The HIV/AIDS Program at Public Health is excited to announce the release of a new booklet for gay and bisexual men recovering from crystal meth. Staying Off Crystal is the first resource of its kind in which real men in real recovery candidly share their advice and personal stories about quitting and staying off crystal meth.

Eight men from Seattle’s Strength Over Speed contributed their words and experiences to Staying Off Crystal as an effort to reach out and talk to other men in their community. By “going public” with their faces and stories, these men hope to reduce the stigma of crystal meth and offer the message that recovery from crystal is possible!

Topics in Staying Off Crystal include:

  • The 5 stages of recovery
  • Relapse red flags
  • Sex-now what?
  • Special advice for couples, injectors, and men with HIV
  • What to do when relapse happens
  • Support groups and community resources

Honest, practical, and hopeful, Staying Off Crystal is an essential tool for men who want to reclaim their lives from crystal.

gray bullet Parking for CHOW Meetings
A reminder to all CHOW attendees that Lifelong has asked CHOW members to no longer park in the lower level parking lot. These spaces are for staff, clients and volunteers. This change might mean leaving a few minutes earlier to find street parking or sneaking out for a couple of minutes to feed a meter. But it will be greatly appreciated by and very helpful to Lifelong clients, volunteers and staff.

gray bullet Cell Phone and Pagers
It would be greatly appreciated if CHOW members could turn off cell phones and pagers or put them on silent or vibrate before the meetings begin. This will avoid distracting presenters and attendees during presentations.
