HIV/AIDS Program
Sex Partner Treatment of Chlamydia and Gonorrhea Infections

All partners of patients who test positive for Chlamydia or Gonorrhea should be treated as if they are infected. If a physician takes responsibility to ensure partner treatment, the provider should examine and treat all of the persons the patient had sex with in the 60 days prior to the date the patient was tested. If this is not possible, patients may be given medication to give to their sex partners.  Public Health - Seattle & King County will provide free medications for patients who test positive to give to their partner(s).

You can call or fax the prescriptions directly to one of the pharmacies listed below. Only these pharmacies stock the free, partner delivered medication. Please indicate to the pharmacy that you wish to call in the free Public Health medication Pack 1 or Pack 2.

(Chlamydia)

Pack 1- Azithromycin (Zithromax), 1 gram po once stat

(Gonorrhea)

Pack 2- Azithromycin (Zithromax), 1 gram and Cefpodxime (Vatin), 200mg 2 tablets (400mg) once po stat
