White Center & Boulevard Park Community Data
About Us

Purpose and partners

This website is designed to be a resource for community organizations, government agencies, researchers and community residents working to strengthen families and neighborhoods. The site provides easy access to current data about the population and housing characteristics of the White Center and Boulevard Park neighborhoods of King County. Whether designing a neighborhood grant program, planning for new services and programs, or evaluating the success of existing services, community organizations and policy makers need up-to-date information about their communities and the people who live there.

The White Center and Boulevard Park Neighborhood Data website is sponsored by the Annie E. Casey Foundation in conjunction with the Seattle-King County Making Connections project. Making Connections operates in 22 sites across the country including the White Center neighborhood of King County. The goal of Making Connections is to improve the lives of vulnerable families and children by strengthening the communities they live in. To accomplish this goal, Making Connections creates community programs that foster economic opportunity, social networks and access to services and supports.

Local partners such as Public Health - Seattle & King County support this work by providing health, demographic and economic data and analysis of community assets and challenges. This website was created and is maintained by the Epidemiology, Planning & Evaluation Unit of Public Health, with the assistance of King County GIS Center.

How to use this website

All data on this website are derived from publicly available data sources. A preliminary list of 82 community indicators was chosen. An indicator is a specific characteristic of the community such as the percent of the population living below the poverty level. Tracked over time, indicators can show whether conditions are improving or becoming worse. Data on each of these indicators is presented in three different ways. A map shows the spatial distribution of that characteristic in the communities. It demonstrates, for example, where the highest poverty areas are within White Center and Boulevard Park. The same data are also condensed into a chart that compares the level of poverty in White Center, Boulevard Park, King County and Washington State. This type of comparison provides information about how the communities are doing relative to the entire county and state. Finally, a table showing the number and percent of people in poverty in those four geographic areas can be downloaded.

To access the data, go to, Neighborhood Data and Maps. From there you can view or print:

  • Reference maps showing the locations of major streets, schools, and libraries in White Center and Boulevard Park. You can also zoom in on specific areas - or, block groups - in the communities.
  • A data table listing all of the 82 indicators and their values for White Center, Boulevard Park, King County and Washington State. Clicking on the name of an indicator will open a new page with a more detailed presentation of the data.
  • Detailed data for a specific indicator are presented as a map, chart and downloadable table which lists the values for White Center, Boulevard Park, King County, Washington State and all of the census tracts or block groups in the two communities.

We want to hear from you!
