Toxic Hazards
Television disposal
 |
Television screens and computer monitors use Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs) which contain lead that is hazardous. |
> Disposal options:
- In Seattle and King County, televisions cannot be disposed of in the garbage, at a transfer station or a household hazardous waste facility. Visit www.metrokc.gov/dnrp/swd/electronics/index.asp for businesses that recycle televisions in your area.
> Recycling options:
- If working, see if a charity will take it. Look in the yellow pages for local charity resources.
- Some businesses take TVs and/or computer monitors and some just take computer parts. Visit the "Take It Back Network" website for more information about recycling TVs
- Electronics Recycling from the King County Solid Waste Division.
